Dr. Moses Mulumba

Dr. Mulumba, Moses is a Lawyer with a special interest in International Human Rights, Global Health, and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Post Graduate Bar qualification, Master of Laws (LLM), a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in health sciences, and a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Ghent.
Mulumba is a founding Executive Director of the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD), and now Director-General Afya na Haki
He has spearheaded many legal and public health successes in health and rights and led various programmatic and community interventions towards social justice in health in Uganda. He has led or participated in litigating several strategic litigation cases, publishing technical briefs, policy briefs, discussion papers, and several technical tools. He has attracted international acclaim for his research, publications, and teaching in global health and international human rights, including more than 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals and over 30 advocacy and research projects.
In his long career, he has served in various capacities and held important responsibilities in Uganda and abroad, and in the public and private sectors. In Uganda, he has been a member Board of Directors of the National Drug Authority (NDA) and also a member and advisor to several non-Government Organizations. At a regional level, he is a steering committee member of the Regional Network on Equity in Health in East and Southern Africa (EQUINET). Internationally, he has been an African Advisor to the HIV and the Law Commission, and principle and co-investigator on various research projects funded among others IDRC, SIDA, Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, European Union, the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR) and the European Space Agency. His recent focus is on overseeing the establishment of Afya na Haki as a leading African Institute that builds advocacy capacities in Health, Human Rights, and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) through Africentric approaches within a national and global context.
